This year’s Pokémon World Championships concluded with a huge surprise for collectors and competitive players: the reveal of Mega Charizard ex and the introduction of the new Mega Attack Rare card rarity! The announcement, made during the closing ceremony by The Pokémon Company, showcased Mega Charizard ex alongside Mega Gardevoir ex and Mega Lucario ex as part of this brand-new, highly anticipated set.

Mega Charizard ex will make its Japanese debut in the Inferno X set, releasing on September 26, 2025, and is expected to reach English-speaking collectors in November. The card stands out as a fire-type powerhouse with an incredible 360HP and the new “Inferno X” attack, which can deal massive damage based on the number of Fire Energy you discard from all Pokémon on your field.

Mega Attack Rares bring a distinctive style to the Pokémon TCG. Each card features attack names written in katakana, evoking nostalgia for the original XY-era Mega Evolution Pokémon-EX. These new rares will be pursued not just by competitive players for their strength, but also by collectors for their unique design and historical significance.

The Pokémon Company also teased that more Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, like Mega Dragonite ex, will arrive in 2026 for future sets, and Mega Evolutions will be joining Pokémon TCG Pocket this fall with Mega Gyarados ex, Mega Blaziken ex, and Mega Altaria ex entering the digital collection.

The excitement from Worlds has set the stage for a thrilling new era in the Pokémon TCG, and fans can expect even more news as the next sets approach. Which Mega Attack Rare are you most looking forward to adding to your collection? Let us know in the comments!
