Hot Air Arena big hits

Pokémon Card Game Japan has just dropped some exciting news for collectors and players! The next Enhanced Expansion Pack, SV9a “Hot Wave Arena” (熱風のアリーナ), is officially scheduled to hit shelves on March 14, 2025.

This highly anticipated set continues the popular Trainer’s Pokémon theme, bringing beloved characters and their partner Pokémon to life through beautifully illustrated cards. From what we can see on the pack artwork, we’ll be getting Pokémon from some fan-favorite trainers:

  • Cynthia with her iconic Garchomp
  • Ethan featuring the legendary Ho-Oh
  • Misty returning with her water-type companions
  • Arven making an appearance with Mabosstiff

Cards Revealed So Far

The initial card reveals have already got fans buzzing:

  • Ethan’s Collection: Ethan’s Adventure (Supporter), Ethan’s Ho-Oh, Typhlosion, Quilava, Cyndaquil, Magcargo, Slugma, and Pichu
  • Misty’s Team: Misty’s Gyarados, Misty’s Magikarp, and Misty’s Psyduck
  • Classic Item Return: Sacred Ash (reprint from XY – Flashfire)

Pichu Returns!

One particularly noteworthy addition is Pichu, which hasn’t received an official TCG card in international markets since HeartGold & SoulSilver Base Set way back in 2010! Japanese collectors were lucky to get the Mischievous Pichu promo in 2022, but this marks Pichu’s long-awaited return to standard sets.
